Danville Lady Ironmen soccer booster
Meeting minutes
Tuesday
January 9 at 7 pm---Danville High School
The first meeting of the year was held, with the purpose of getting organized and doing some preliminary planning for the upcoming year. New parents were welcomed.
·
Freshman
players are reminded that 3 size large hooded sweatshirts are left over and
available for purchase for five dollars. These
are gently used---freshman get first dibs, if they are not sold older players
may purchase them.
·
It was
suggested to check into having the blankets that we have traditionally raffled
at games, available for sale. It is
felt that this might be more lucrative then the raffle, and a number of people
have requested them. Other
fund raising ideas were voiced such as selling Danville Ironmen lanyards (these
are a frequently requested item). It was suggested that the girls possibly hold
a car wash this spring or summer. Obtaining
corporate sponsors was also discussed. Members
are encouraged to bring other ideas to the next meeting for more in depth
discussion.
·
The coaches
have suggested that new uniforms be purchased for the girls for the upcoming
season. This has been taken to the
athletic director to check into the feasibility of this.
The booster club may need to donate some funds towards this, hence the
need for some really good fund-raisers this year!!
·
The coaches
met with the girls separately from the parents and then all joined the meeting.
Some of the discussion surrounded the topic of off-season training to
avoid injuries. Tips about workouts
and fitness can be found on the team website at www.soccertownusa.org.
·
Coach Davis
also discussed the possibility of the team attending a summer soccer camp at
Penn State University again this year. He
feels that this is a high quality camp that has been very helpful in the past,
and it is an excellent team bonding experience.
We will have more information about this at the next meeting, and will
hopefully be able to firm up some plans at that time.
·
Coaches
Davis and Shipe are planning a spring outdoor club team and still need players,
please contact one of them if you wish to play.
It will be an excellent off-season way to bond and work together as a
team.
